Everything about this movie amuses me, but mostly the casting. I think I may be in love with the casting director. It’s like he/she was thinking, “How can I get everyone in the world to watch this movie?” and then she DID IT.
1. Young People? American Idol’s Brooke White at your service!
2. Sci-Fi Lovers? Stargate: Atlantis’ Joe Flanigan reporting for duty!
3. Older People? The Cosby Show’s Phylicia Rashād represents!
4. Any minority you can think of? LOOK AT THE ADORABLE, RACIALLY-DIVERSE CHILDREN. (I think Hollywood has figured out I will watch anything with an Asian youngster in it. SQUISH THOSE CHEEKS.)
And in case you didn’t realize what they’re doing with the casting, they make it completely apparent with their characters. Brooke White is playing a singer. Joe Flanigan is playing a former major in the Air Force. Phylicia Rashād plays a social worker exuding motherly airs. The minority children play adorable minority children. It’s basically an American Idol RPF/Stargate: Atlantis AU crossover.
Seriously, best casting ever. I APPROVE.
